HIRE LA’S YOUTH

Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa has challenged local employers to offer entry level employment opportunities to young job seekers, ages 16 - 24.  Understanding employers’ needs for qualified applicants, the City of Los Angeles has partnered with L.A. Youth at Work, an initiative of the L.A. Area Chamber of Commerce, to prepare young adults to gain and maintain entry level employment.

L.A. YOUTH AT WORK

A project of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, L.A. Youth at Work trains local youth for entry level employment in a three step process:

  1. Step 1Job Skills Workshops; training includes resume development, workplace etiquette, application and interview techniques

  2. Step 2Work Readiness Certificate; a certification of work readiness by industry defined standards

  3. Step 3Hiring Events; access to entry level employment opportunities with participating employers
