“The candidates came extremely prepared to perform in a professional, fast-paced environment.  We appreciate the training and assistance provided through the Work Readiness Certificate program.”

Hundreds of youth have received a Work Readiness Certificate, in partnership with the HIRE LA, City of L.A.’s Community Development Department, Professionals in Human Resources Association [PIHRA] and United Way of Greater Los Angeles, and more than 45 community-based organizations serving youth.

The Certificate is a portable credential that will put entry-level job seekers in the front of the line when looking for a job. The program is aimed at young people, 16 - 24 years old.

YSP Prescreened entry-level workers:

  • complete work accurately, on time, and to a high standard of quality
  • follow work-related rules and regulations
  • demonstrate willingness to work and show initiative
  • display responsible behaviors at work, including avoiding absenteeism and demonstrating promptness

How The Program Works

  • To qualify for the certificate, young adults must complete a downloadable job application, a hard copy job application, a math skills test, a customer service assessment and a resume. [Click to view these materials or go to WRC Resource Materials]
  • Volunteer business professionals facilitate mock interviews based on actual hiring practices.
  • The process is designed to help Youth Service Providers partner with employers to increase the hiring rates for your unemployed youth constituency.
  • You will have tools to help young job seekers demonstrate the basic skills or competencies necessary to obtain and retain entry-level employment.
