After attending a Work Readiness Session and earning a certificate, Paolo Galicia was selected as one of eight candidates to receive a summer internship with Parsons Corporation (Parsons)  through the L.A. Youth at Work program.  

Headquartered in Pasadena, CA, Parsons is an international engineering, construction, technical and management services firm.  During his internship with the corporation, Paolo worked as an End-User Computer Support Technician under Frank Aguayo, his manager, and Ruben Cusani, his mentor. Paolo gained marketable skills from the experience he gained performing the tasks that were assigned to him.

In addition to gaining valuable technical experience, Paolo also received the network and support system that helped guide him along his journey. The internship broadened his understanding about the structure of the business and the different fields that an IT career has to offer.   

After the 5 week internship with the Parsons, Paolo was employed as a Computer System Analyst at a Hospice Firm in Downtown, Los Angeles. While there, he tested software and supported the team with their computer issues. Two weeks into that new job, he received a call from Frank Aguayo offering him a temporary position back at Parsons. Paolo accepted the offer and is now a System One contractor working with Parsons employees all over California.  Paolo Galicia is simultaneously a college student attending California State University, Los Angeles where he’s pursuing a bachelor's degree, double majoring in computer information systems and business management.
